Three persons including the driver and his mate were reportedly killed after a diesel tanker exploded at Onyinanufo near Wioso in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.

The disaster occurred on Monday, May 24 after the speeding tanker collided with a passenger vehicle in the relatively small town.

Eye witnesses say the diesel carrier caught fire instantly and overturned.

The fire swept through the community of about 400 to 500 inhabitants, destroying most of the houses they live in.

As a result, many of them have been rendered homeless.

A two-year-old boy is said to have been burnt to death while a number of children in the community are reported missing.
