LOCAL SECURITY EXPERTS PUT TO SHAME AS GHANA CLIMBS UP ON GLOBAL SECURITY INDEX
Ghana’s security is in tatters, according to some local experts who spoke verbosely on the subject. To them, the recent reported cases of crimes are sufficient enough to conclude that Ghana is in dire straits in terms of its security architecture.
Not even the sound, logical, informative or well detailed explanations from the Ghana Police Service would convince these people that our security is not tattered beyond redemption.
It has emerged that the 2021 Global Peace Index puts Ghana at number 2 when it comes to the Most Peaceful Countries in Africa.
Ghana has been ranked first in West Africa and second on the continent in the 2021 Global Peace Index, and this is coming from no mean an outfit than the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).
The IEP is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress.
The fact that there are incidents of crimes here and there does not necessarily mean that peace and security have eluded the country.
Those who have been singing the song that our security is porous have been doing so not based on any empirical evidence or data but out of a desperate attempt to paint this administration black.
It is all part of the script to make Ghanaians see the Akufo-Addo administration as a failure in terms of security. What is the truth which has been accentuated by IEP is that, Ghana is not in a state of insecurity as being bandied about by these doomsayers and naysayers.
