BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH – ITS PINK OCTOBER. SUCK SOME BREASTS.

Raynelle Boadu opines…….

In 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 685,000 deaths globally. As of the end of 2020, there were 7.8 million women alive who were diagnosed with breast cancer in the past 5 years, making it the world’s most prevalent cancer and second most deadly cancer in women behind cervical cancer.

Breast cancer arises in the lining cells called epithelium of the ducts (85% of cases) or lobules (15% of cases) in the glandular tissue of the breast. Initially, this malignant (cancerous) growth is confined to the duct or lobule “in situ” where generally its asymptomatic and has little potential for spreading (metastasis).

Over time, these in situ cancers may progress and spread into the surrounding breast tissue (invasive breast cancer) then spread to the nearby lymph nodes (regional metastasis) or to other organs in the body (distant metastasis). If a woman dies from breast cancer, it is because of widespread metastasis (WHO).

Like all cancers, actual cause is unknown. However, certain predisposing factors are thought to be responsible for it. These include but not limited to

Being female. …

Advancing age. …

A history of breast conditions. …

A history of breast cancer. …

A family history of breast cancer. …

Inherited genes that increase cancer risk. …

Exposure to radiation. …

Obesity. …

What this means is that everybody is at risk including men, even though less so than women.

Symptoms of breast cancer may include the following

lump in the breast

Discharge from the nipple bloody or otherwise except milk

Changes in the shape or texture of the nipple or breast (appearance of dimple on the breast or inverted nipple)

Breast skin redness

Swollen lymph nodes

Cancers we know have no cure. The secret to effective treatment lies in early detection. And that is what pink October or breast cancer awareness month is for, to conscientize, educate, inform and create widespread awareness to this fatal disease.

Learn how to self examine your breasts or get a loved one to do it for you. Do it once every month and report any changes or lumps you feel to a doctor immediately for mammography (medical diagnosis of breast cancer).

There is an adage that says if you don’t use it, you will loose it which means risk loosing your breasts or get it sucked, suckled, fondled and caressed.

As the Bible says in Songs of Solomon 1:13 lie between her breasts all night and in Isaiah 66:11 that you will suck and be satisfied with her breasts. So as men let us desire the breasts and as women let us avail the breast.

I have self examined mine and availed it to that special someone to use as well. Get yours examined and used as well.

Talk to someone about breast cancer today and spread the message.
