Ian Okwei Tema Writes

The Paramount Chief of the Kpone Traditional Council, Nii Tetteh Otu II, according to news reports charged politicians to be mindful of their campaign promises, and desist from making phantom promises.
He has also expressed his desire to see finished projects in his town instead of being invited to sod Cutting ceremonies which he described as knife cutting, ground breaking etc

Though I believe these are genuine concerns from the traditional leader, it is also important that when significant projects exist in his town as a result of this administration the chief would give credit to the current administration and President for fulfilling their promise

This government promised to revive the Kpone Affordable Housing Project under TDC DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LIMITED which was started under President kufour but was abandoned in 2009
The Project situated at Kpone was to provide decent and subsidized houses to residents of Tema, Kpone and nearby towns but was left to detoirate

Under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the Kpone Affordable Housing Project has been revived with 11 Blocks each with 16 Appartments thus 116 units being occupied by Public Sector Workers, Security Personnel, Kaiser Flats relocated Residents and Ordinary residents some of whom bought it outright and others occupying them under the government mortgage system under Ministry of Finance and Three Banks GCB Bank, Stanbic Bank and Republic Bank for workers to Rent to Own Policy.
46 of these Flats are to be completed in 2021 and 96 Flats to be completed in 2023
It is expected to have over 3000 units thus over 6000 residents living there
In completion this area in Kpone would be a complete Community named community 26 which is a 50 acre enclave with mixed use amenities thus Hospitals, Schools, Shops, Police Posts etc
This is a 316 Million Ghana Cedis investment by this current NPP government under Nana Addo through TDC DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LIMITED to revive this project that was abandoned and it is clearly evident for the Kpone Chief to see and give credit to the President upon his visit to Kpone.

During the NPP campaign in 2016 they promised One Factory One District 1D1F through Public Private initiatives and Kpone has benefited from this policy with the government of Ghana partnering with the Fujian Sentuo Ceramics Company, a ceramic tile manufacturing company located in Kpone, in the Greater Accra Region and operating under the 1-District-1-Factory initiative. Which was commissioned by the President on Wednesday 27th February 2019

With the company employing some 1,500 employees majority of whom are Kpone residents, and sourcing 90% of its raw materials from Ghana

Currently the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority GPHA is constructing a $127 million devanning terminal at Kpone
Kpone Devanning Terminal which was started in 2016 has been continued by this administration and is almost completed.
It is located on a land space of about 40 acres twice the Golden Jubilee Terminal GJT

These are just three infrastructure projects in Kpone that I would like to touch on despite the numerous road infrastructure that links Tema to Kpone and other industrial initiatives ongoing.

Let’s us all take a cue from this Appreciation quote

“Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.”
