KURT MUST WAKE UP FOR OUR GAME IS FLOUNDERING UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP

Ghana football was plunged into a state of despondency when the effects of the not-too-impactful Number 12 video from Anas wore off. It needed to be rescued from that place of desolation.

Kurt Okraku, though many of us never believed in his candidacy, wormed his way into the minds of the delegates who endorsed him to become the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Kurt came with mouth-watering promises of resurrecting Ghana’s sleepy league as football has always been the passion of the nation. His game-changing manifesto promises were too good to be rejected, so he won.

I must admit that I have not been impressed with the performance of Kurt Okraku. His promises have become ones on paper, those which have never found their ways into the practical aspect of our football. The Game Changer, it is too obvious, has not been doing a lot to change our game.

Notwithstanding these opinions of mine which may, more or less, find favour in the hearts and minds of many a football loving person, I believe it’d be unfair to wholly blame Kurt Okraku for the dastardly and reprehensible events which dominated the AshGold and Inter Allies match.

No one needs to be schooled on that match having a predetermined outcome. AshGold scored goals which were shocking. Inter Allies scored won goals to help project AshGold.

The Ghana Football Association has since issued a statement condemning what transpired in that encounter as it hands over the issue to the disciplinary committee as well as the Police CID.

We can wholly blame Kurt Okraku if he fails to let these teams suffer some sanctions as stipulated the rules and regulations governing the game. He has been somewhat abysmal in his leadership, and he needs to get this right. If he spares the rod and spoils the child, he will be blamed.

Which corporate institution would sink monies into Ghana football if we display this crassitude of behavior? Which entities would sponsor a league whose ending yields such dramatic but shameful results? Kurt Okraku must wake up from his slumber lest he goes down as the worst ever GFA leader.
