LET US NOT LOSE FOCUS ON WHAT KEN AGYAPONG WANTS TO FERRY ACROSS IN HIS BANTER WITH JOYNEWS/JOY FM.

While we cannot discount or dismiss the intemperance of the language employed by Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in his duel with JoyNews/Joy FM, we can also not gloss over the very issue which has informed his outbursts.

JoyNews/Joy FM hastily went to town with a reportage which was indicative of the fact that Macho Kaaka was killed by a mob sympathetic to the DCE of Ejura. They also created the impression that Kaaka was murdered for his anti-government sentiments as a member of the comatose FixTheCountry group.

This reportage led to the people of Ejura being apoplectic and hitting the streets to demonstrate. The demonstration resulted in two more people getting killed. Two more people died, let me emphasize.

Who is to blame for the death of the two? As at the time JoyNews and Joy FM were making those claims to the effect that Kaaka had been killed because of his anti-government campaign, the Police were yet to launch investigations into the matter.

It has come out that Kaaka was, for want of a better expression, murdered by his own brother for reasons still being looked into, according to a report from the Police. This clearly shows that their reportage was problematic.

Until they came out with those lies cooked in cahoots with the FixTheCountry group, though Kaaka had been killed, no one was on the streets demonstrating. Their false reportage was the enzyme which would drive the youth of Ejura onto the streets which resulted in two additional deaths.

Ken, of course, went overboard in communicating this very issue but the unrestrained, virulent and acidulous manner of delivering same must not submerge the gravamen of the issues he raised.

The focus, it appears, seems to have shifted to what he said and how it was said instead of the salient point he put across. It seems there are strenuous efforts to obfuscate the very fact that Joy FM’s false reportage contributed immensely to, if not wholly caused the death of the two.

We may want to look at his diction or the intemperate nature of the language used, but the bottom line is that JoyNews/Joy FM cannot run away from the fact that they played a pivotal role in the unfortunate tragedy that followed the death of Kaaka.
