WHEN THE BRING BACK THE LOVE MANTRA TURNS BRING DOWN GHANA FOOTBALL….
I am dumb-stricken by the news that Kurt Okraku and his charges have banned Nana Yaw Amponsah from football for five years following the decision of his outfit, Phar Rangers, to jettison the competition it is participating in.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee is said to have handed him this decision. The decision also stipulates that Nana Yaw Amponsah cannot continue to be the CEO of Asante Kotoko.
For a football association poised to resuscitate a game which was virtually dead and buried to be charting this course is something that defies logic.
Such a draconian decision at a time our football has started showing a glimmer of hope is strange, to say the least.
You go after someone who leads the biggest and greatest football team in the country, a team you are known to be antagonistic towards, and you believe people would swallow this hook, line and sinker?
I see this as an attack on Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Nana Yaw Amponsah is just being used as a vessel to operationalize the hidden agenda of Kurt Okraku towards Asante Kotoko.
Ghana football would sink to its lowest level should Asante Kotoko supporters decide to look at matches with lukewarm attitudes.
Kurt Okraku is not in to grow and develop Ghana football. He has his own tendentious motives for ascending to the highest throne of our football.
What did the GFA do to promote the Asante Kotoko/Accra Hearts of Oak super clash? Close to nothing! It took the supporters of both teams to create awareness of the match which caught fire for all and sundry to throw their weights behind the two teams.
A few days after this match, you come out with this ludicrous decision which does not take into account the fact that we are not in normal times. The love will be sent back if this is what Kurt Okraku is up to!
